You can do all of these tasks very easily when you use www.bestbudgetweb.com.  They have easy to use web tools free with every hosting.  Tools like Google's Webmaster Tools, create and submit Sitemaps and are easy to manage and maintain.

Upload your site

After you have created a website consisting of web pages filled with great content, it's time to upload it to your server (host) for the world to view. (See building a website with FrontPage or Dreamweaver)

There are two ways to upload your web site files to your hosting server - using a File Manager utility provided by the web hosting company or File Transfer Protocol (FTP).  Since we have discussed programs like Microsoft FrontPage and Dreamweaver, let's focus on them.

Upload your site using Microsoft FrontPage

1. Open your website file located on your computer in FrontPage.  Double check your internet connection.

2.  Click on File.  Click on Publish Web.

3.  FTP box will pop up.  Enter your username and password.  (Your username and password was created when you set up your hosting with your server.  If you have forgotten your username or password, log into your hosting account to get that information. If you don't know how to do that, call your server for help.  This is one reason we suggest a great server with 24/7 customer service.  (See our recommended servers)

4. Click Publish.  Your files should upload.

Upload your site using Adobe Dreamweaver MX

  1. Launch Dreamweaver MX.
  2. Open the Site menu located in the top navigation bar.
  3. Select Manage Sites…
  4. Next, click New and choose Site.
  5. Under Site name type in a name for your site in Dreamweaver MX. This is only seen in Dreamweaver MX, so you can call it "My Webs” or or anything else.
  6. Define your Local Root Folder by clicking on the folder icon next to the text field. Use the dialog box to find and select the local directory you created. Your local site is now defined. Although you can use Dreamweaver to upload files that are not in this directory to the remote site, it’s a good idea to make sure that all of your website’s files are located in your local site directory.
  7. Now, enter the full URL of your site – that is, http://www.yourdomainname.com – in the HTTP Address field.  Make sure you replace “yourdomainname.com” with your actual domain name.
  8. Select the Remote Info header from the left panel.
  9. Under Access, select FTP.
  10. In the FTP Host field, type www.yourdomain.com.
  1. If you have Unix-based shared hosting plan (Personal Unix, Business Class Unix, Pro Unix, or eCommerce Unix), type html in the Host Directory field. If you have Windows-based shared hosting plan (Personal Windows, Business Class Windows, Pro Windows, or eCommerce Windows), type WWWROOT in the Host Directory field.
  2. In the Login field, type your Main FTP Username associated with your hosting plan.
  3. In the Password field, type your FTP Password. (If you store your password, keep in mind that anyone with access to your computer will now be able to access your website as well.)
  4. Click Test to test your connection to the hosting server. If the test is not successful, check below the “Troubleshooting” section.
  5. Click the OK button to save the new site in Dreamweaver. You can now use your Dreamweaver to publish your site.

For more control over web optimization, then you may want to build your site from scratch.  Webpage design programs such as Microsoft FrontPage and  Dreamweaver are great.  There are other great ones out there too.  These two seem to come up in more in conversations because of name recognition thus making them very popular.  You will need to learn how these programs work.  See lesson plans on this site to get more information on building webpages with FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

Optimize Your Site For Search Engines

If you're not using one of BestBudgetweb.com site building tools, you can also add your meta tags to your pages with the html page of your homepage. Meta tags should be placed within the <head> tags near the beginning of your page code, like this:

<head>
<title>your business name and page title<title>
<meta name="description" content="a description of your site">
<meta name="keywords" content="relevant keywords about your site">
</head>

The title should not be too long.  Keep it simple.  Your description should be longer than your title but don't over do it.  Search engines don't like it.  Add as many keywords that are relevant to your site.  They should be separated by a comma.  For example, here are some keywords used for this site mycheapspace.com -

<meta name="keywords" content="free webs, free website, free webpages, how to get web hosting, make a website, how to buy a domain name">

Another way you will want to optimize your site for search engines is to get links.  When the crawlers -web spiders come around to discover your site, you want to have links from other sites that have been indexed by the search engines itself.

Submit your website to search engines:

Submit your site to Google

Submit your site to Yahoo

Submit your site to MSN
